Endoderm

Through the primitive streak a few epiblast cells develop into endoderm.

The endoderm cells penetrate the layer of hypoblast thereby lining the wall of the yolk sac. This mainly happens in the midline, the axis of the embryo, which causes the hypoblast to move lateraly.

The endoderm will, among others, develop into the epithelium of the intestinal tube and the respiratory system.
