The spermcell

During puberty the spermatogonia located in the seminiferous tubules of the testis develop into primary spermatocytes.

After the first meiotic division they are called secundary spermatocytes. A second meiotic division gives rise to spermatids with 23 chromosomes each. After a series of transformations the spermcell arises as you can see in the accompaning drawing.
